Destination Fluting™
Students are offered outings to special locations with a study focus, each location having a special gift and lesson to teach.
Examples include playing in caves, buildings, stairwells, and parking garages, where the acoustics change with every step. Here students find natural reverb and echo and learn how to use them to the best advantage adding texture and depth to their songs. The trips to rivers and waterfalls allow the sights and sounds to become part of, and influence, the voice and course of their songs. On excursions to oceans, mountains, and cliffs students learn how to deal with wind issues that can alter the tone or mute the flute.
Each outing has a photography segment. Students are required to take photos of those playing to evaluate and encourage proper fluting posture and also aid in stage presence for those wanting to perform.
This popular program includes lively, thought provoking, and community building discussions. This is a big part of the program, each student adding much to the experience in sounds and ideas.
Open to students of all levels and flute customers by invitation.
